How is that after SEVENTEEN posts about Rose and The Doctor that we still have feelings about them? The answer is simple. We will NEVER stop having feelings about them. We have several friends currently watching Doctor Who for the first time, and every text, tweet or Facebook status makes us flail over our epic OTP all over again. We’re not even sorry. So let’s dive right into our feelings for the week, shall we?

I recently re-watched “The Christmas Invasion” and unabashedly flailed about during this final scene. They are both so adorably awkward here as they both essentially say “Do you still like me?”. I love the look of relief on BOTH of their faces as the answer is clearly “YES. YES I STILL LIKE YOU.” This song sums up all the excitement and anticipation they are both feeling as they are about to start a new journey together.
The Doctor: Everything’s new.
Rose: And what about you? What are you going to do next?
The Doctor: Well… back to the TARDIS. Same old life.
Rose: On your own?
The Doctor: Why? Don’t you want to come?
Rose: Well yeah.
The Doctor: Do you though?
Rose: Yeah.
The Doctor: Well I just thought… ’cause I changed.
Rose: Yeah, I thought ’cause you changed you might not want me anymore.
The Doctor: Oh I’d love you to come.
Rose: Okay!
He may as well have passed her a note saying “Do you like me? Check yes, no or maybe.”
Of course Rose checked yes. She always checked yes.

I think that “Fear Her” is a very underrated episode. It gets a lot of hate because of the villain in the episode but there is so much good shippy stuff between Rose and Ten here, from his pouting over Rose calling a cat “Beautiful Boy” to their bantering about sleuthing (see the gif at the top of this post). They are SO carefree and coupley in this episode, which makes the next episodes (“Army of Ghosts” and “Doomsday”) all the more devastating. And look how disheveled he is! No tie. A few shirt buttons undone.
As we love to say here: doing it, doing it, TARDIS doing it.
This song conjures up the image of one of my favorite Doctor Who lines: “There’s a lot of things you need to get across this universe. Warp drive… wormhole refractors… You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold.” (I love this line so much my friend Jenn incorporated it into my Christmas present this year. It hangs by my door and I see it every time I leave my apartment.)
And lastly, I was forever devastated that the Tenth Doctor did NOT light the Olympic Cauldron at the Opening Ceremonies.

This is a very recent addition to the playlist. As we tend to do throughout the day, Sage sent me the link to the song and the lyrics saying “Listen to THIS!”. And this is how I know that Sage and I are soul mates: we then proceeded to IM each other the EXACT SAME LYRICS (the ones I posted) at the same time. And then we yelled at each other via caps lock.
It should be noted that this was not the first time that happened. I honestly worry that we share one brain at times. Luckily, it’s an awesome brain.
Let’s again ruminate on the fact that the Doctor wanted the last face his tenth incarnation saw to be Rose Tyler. The first face that face saw. It all comes full circle. The end at the beginning. Mostly he came back just to see her.

I will swear that he thinks of Rose in this moment until my dying day. I refuse to hear anything different.

Our friend Michelle recently watched “Journey’s End” for the first time, which naturally prompted her to tweet Sage and I and THAT led to a whole feels explosion about the final scene with Rose, Ten and TenToo. Sadly, I was in Jury Duty at the time, but I chimed into the meltdown oh so perfectly at the end.
Sage: As sad as Doomsday is, I think JE is even more heartbreaking for him, because he has a choice. He knows that it’s…(tweet #2) …what’s right for her, but he sees what his life could be if he wasn’t burdened by the curse of the Time Lords. (tweet #3) & he CAN’T say that he loves her, b/c he knows, if he did, she’d refuse to stay. So he holds back, this time on purpose.
Michelle: So true…all of it! He gets the girl but not really and he has to see himself kiss her and love her always!
Sage: And DONNA, poor, brilliant Donna. He loses the love of his life and his best friend in the same day. Ugh.
Michelle: Donna crushed me, I wasn’t expecting that.
Kim: THIS IS ALL BUMMING ME OUT.
Michelle: Truth! I still have a few 10 episodes left…should I get more wine?
The answer is yes. You should always get more wine when you are watching the end of Series 4.
Anyway, I feel this song perfectly encapsulates what Ten is feeling when he is again on that beach in Bad Wolf Bay doing what he never thought he would have to do a second time: saying goodbye to Rose Tyler. But he is not REALLY saying goodbye to her as all of his memories and feelings are in TenToo. As Sage said, he sees through TenToo the life he could have had with Rose. And the life TenToo WILL have with Rose. Ugh.
Russell T. Davies said that everything that happened to Rose and the Doctor was of their own doing. They got a little too bold and a little too careless in their adventures (“We were way before our time as bold as we were blind…) and that carelessness separated them. Twice.

ACK! I started tearing up again just thinking about it all and then you go with that last image of him seeing his beloved Rose kissing his other self and that look….*heart crushing look*. Ugh! Thank GOD he gets that smile at the end of his own journey before he changes.

A certain box set finally made it to Chez Grande yesternight.
This post convinced me to watch the outtakes and the video diaries first. NO EPS REWATCH YET. Possibly not for … well, a long time.
Good Lord, the Doomsday video diary excerpt alone … the brief frames of Our Poor Doctah sitting pensively in the car, alone, in a big poofy coat (with big wet eyes) while they finish shooting Billie’s flood-the-beach close-ups … that’s enough to kill a Time Lord right there. You can’t expect a human to withstand the Feels.
I say we blame Tennant’s acting ability, which not only is stellar in his own roles but also elevates the performances of his colleagues. There’s no way not to feel the emotions the characters feel when the actors are overcome by them too. It even translates down to that GIF you have of Eleven. (snif)
Why yes, I AM listening to Kim’s playlist right now. And it’s on Mraz “If It Kills Me.” I think it’s about to. ;D

Yes, I got the Tennant set for Christmas, and aside from showing my mom “Blink” and “Impossible Planet/Satan Pit” I haven’t watched any of the episodes yet. My bf yelled at me about that just the other day, LOL. Mainly I haven’t watched because of feels, but also because I want to do a series rewatch, and that means starting with Nine. -K
YOU CAN DO THAT NOW BBC AMERICA JUST STARTED OVER THIS WEEK WITH NINE ahem why am I screaming sorry. Am finally watching Nine in order from the start, yes, the big gob. But not My Ten. Yet.
Also laughing uproariously at things like “Hopping for our lives! Yeah? All that hopping? Remember? … Hop? No?” All the extras are worth all three Ten series to me right now because I’ve only seen them in bits and pieces. Now I have All the (Ten) Things. Eeeeeeeeeexcellent.
