Being Doctor Who fans is a point of pride for both of us, but neither of us have ever been more proud than we are today. We’re taking part in an initiative called #WhoAgainstGuns, a response from the fandom and creator community to the epidemic of gun violence in the United States. The campaign generated over $2,000 in its first two days, and we’re still going strong! Donate today to the organizations listed below to gain access to an exclusive commentary podcast of a beloved Classic Who story. (Which one?? Keep reading to find out!)
Here’s the official release, with all the info you should need:
Gallifrey Stands, a coalition of Doctor Who fans and podcasters is proud to announce “Who Against Guns” (#whoagainstguns), an initiative to encourage Doctor Who fans to take action against gun violence.
An all-star cast of over 40 Doctor Who podcasters, writers and fans are coming together to record a podcast commentary of a 1969 Classic Who story The War Games. The 11-episode podcast will only be released to listeners who provide a donation to an organization committed to ending gun violence.
Doctor Who writers including Paul Cornell (Human Nature, Father’s Day), Jamie Mathieson (Oxygen, Flatline), Andrew Smith (Full Circle), and Peter Harness (The Zygon Invasion, Kill The Moon) will be joining comic artists Rachael Stott (Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor) and Simon Fraser (Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor) along with representatives of the popular Doctor Who podcasts Radio Free Skaro, Verity!, Reality Bomb, Coal Hill AV Club, Mutter’s Spiral, TARBIS, Who and Company, Web of Queer, bloggers and fans.
Doctor Who fans who make a donation of $10 or more to March For Our Lives, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and Moms Demand Action in the US (and other organizations internationally) can send a receipt to gallifreystands@realitybombpodcast.com and will be able to download the exclusive podcast commentary of The War Games on Monday, March 12.
The campaign will also feature giveaways of Doctor Who-related books, comics and other surprises for Doctor Who fans.

And here are some words of intention and support from a couple of notable participants:
“This cause is something I think Doctor Who, as a series, and the Doctor, as a character, stand for every time. I had to do what I could to help.” — Paul Cornell, writer of the Doctor Who episodes Father’s Day and Human Nature / The Family of Blood and author of Chalk
“The support for #WhoAgainstGuns has been phenomenal and continues to grow. I’m humbled by this group and this fandom. As the mother of school-aged kids in Philadelphia who have lived with this their entire lives, how can we let our children do all the hard work? We’re proud to support these groups dedicated to stopping gun violence that demonstrate the Doctor’s values of courage and kindness above all.” — Deborah Stanish, Verity! podcast moderator and Hugo Award Nominee
